Turkey restaurants serve a variety of dishes

Turkish dishes combine well-balanced ingredients. Be sure to try Dolma and Sarma (stuffed and wrapped vegetables), soups made with lentils, meat and vegetables, rice or bulgur and yogurt, which is served with many dishes. Tasty borek, dough made from egg, milk, yogurt, oil and flour is another staple and meat or cheese, and vegetables with herbs and a variety of seasonings are used as fillings. The yogurt-based soups with a variety of cereals and meat or legume mixtures are perfect meal accompaniments.

Quite often, dried legumes are combined with vegetables, meat and cereals and you’ll often get side dishes of pilaffs, made with meat, chicken, fish and or a variety vegetables. These are sometimes served with ayran or cacik. Kebabs, prepared with vegetables and served with Turkish bread, are another popular dish. Desserts are usually pastry-based, and often include nuts and syrup, such as baklava, lokma, tulumba tatlisi, kadayif and kunefe.
