Bodrum Turkey
Bodrum, in the South Aegean, is the most popular part of Turkey for travellers. Here you’ll find excellent beach resorts, the scant remains of the mausoleum of King Mausolos, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, and sleepy hamlets, charming fishing villages, and deep blue seas.
Be sure to visit the Amphitheater, with the rock tombs above, where you’ll get fine views of the city, and the recently restored Myndus Gate, dating to 364 B.C. As well, the Ottoman Tower, built about 1794 to protect an Ottoman naval shipyard from raids, has undergone restoration which discovered the remains of Roman baths.
